How can we move beyond simply involving local communities and enable them to shape tourism development in practice?
Join us for a two-hour online session exploring new and practical ways of engaging residents meaningfully in tourism. The session is part of the EUI Innovative Actions project, CULTIGEN and brings together perspectives and experiences from destinations across Europe.
Rather than focusing on theory alone, the session will highlight hands-on approaches, reflections, and lessons learned from working directly with communities.
What we will explore
The session is structured around two overall themes:
Beyond Surveys
How can we capture richer local insights, stories and perspectives?
Beyond Consultation
How can we create meaningful local participation in tourism?
Across both themes, you will hear short presentations and examples from CULTIGEN partners as well as other European cities. Each theme concludes with a panel discussion and audience exchange, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions and share perspectives.
